Common questions

How much does the Bellwether Shop Roaster cost?

The Shop Roaster is $14,900 in the US. With the Continuous Roasting Kit (autoloader and base cabinet) it is $19,900 as a bundle. The kit alone is $6,000. Financing is available.

What electrical service does the Shop Roaster need?

A dedicated single-phase 200–240 V, 30 A circuit (5 kW). In the US it ships with a NEMA L6-30P plug on an 8 ft cable and needs an L6-30R receptacle. Most commercial spaces already have 240 V service; a licensed electrician can usually add the circuit in 2–4 hours.

Does the Shop Roaster need venting or a gas line?

No. It is all-electric and smokeless. Smoke is handled inside the machine, so there is no hood, ductwork, rooftop penetration or gas line, and it can run in a customer-facing space.

How much coffee can it roast?

3.3 lb (1.5 kg) per batch, 3–4 roasts an hour, about 33–44 lb in an 8-hour day. With continuous roasting the autoloader holds 44 lb (20 kg) of green coffee and runs up to 13 roasts in a row, for up to 400 lb a week.

How big and how heavy is it?

The countertop roaster is 24.6 in wide, 36.5 in tall and 28.2 in deep (626 × 925 × 714 mm) and weighs 405 lb (184 kg). With the autoloader and base cabinet the full configuration is 69.8 in (1773 mm) tall and 527 lb (239 kg). Allow 2 in (50 mm) of clearance on both sides.

Which certifications does it carry?

UL 197, UL 710, NSF4 Food Safety and CE. Because it is ventless and electric it often qualifies as food preparation equipment rather than industrial roasting equipment, which simplifies permitting.
